2013 : Twenty-year old Melbourne-born musician Jay Penaflor releases an acoustic guitar-based EP under his own name. Three years later, his music project is given a new title - CHANGELINGS.
Two project albums are released in 2016 and 2018 respectively - both LPs demonstrating Jay’s appreciation for the indie pop-rock sensibilities of his generation.
2020 : The end of one era.
And the beginning of a new one.
Patrons, listeners and followers are advised to view CHANGELINGS as being purely a creative music project - one born from the musical and artistic mind of Jay Penaflor.
Because JP has always considered this project to be without a specific target audience, it’s musical repertoire is open to the general public to explore and purchase. The music that has been crafted specifically for this project can more or less be described as ‘random scenarios, episodes or abstractions’.
Since 2013, Jay has devoted himself to the creation, arrangements and quality of the music. He respectfully asks that the general public regard him as being nothing more than these three things:
A Musician
A Songwriter
An Artist
His main intention with this project - to place all emphasis on the music, and to hopefully compose some rather interesting and intriguing songs/compositions in the long run.
There are no past or present photos of Jay Penaflor on this website. It’s at this point in time that the artist prefers to be visually and individually ‘detached’ from the music.
He hopes that in this way, CHANGELINGS’ discography has a better chance of standing on its own.
